今天是农历正月初九。这可是槟城人重要的日子，尤其对于福建人来说，正月初九拜天公比农历正月初一还来得重要。今天我去了姓周桥凑凑热闹。哇噻，好多人！除了可以看一看林冠英的背影，还可以参观姓周桥。当然最重要的是看看当地人拜祝天公。到底农历正月初九拜天公是不是福建人的节日？看看以下的文章片段吧！

在許多中國風俗的書籍里，都有各地于正月初九慶祝天公誕的記載，如北京、浙江、江蘇、廣東等，道教經書云：玉皇大帝誕生于正月初九午時。所以當天是天公誕，而非民間謠傳的福建人避清兵大屠殺，直初九方無事，人們因此大事慶祝。
因為福建人保存了拜天公古俗，所以人們以為那是福建人的節日，其實不然。在北馬，非福建籍的華人也拜啊。南馬的潮州人不拜天公，可是北馬的潮州人卻與福建人一起慶祝天公誕！《新年風俗志》廣東潮州︰“初九是天地的生日，家家戶戶都要拜祝的，這天早晨祭天地父母……”不過北馬潮州人不用甘蔗，他們認為那是福建人逃難時躲入甘蔗園避難之故。其實福建人拜甘蔗，取其有頭有尾，從頭甜到尾之意義也，避難甘蔗園只是附會的傳說而已。
